The golden retriever dog is one of the top 10 dogs for intelligence.  Not only are they handsome and charming, but with the right training, exercise and socialisation, they are friendly and full of fun.

They are often used as support dogs (eg guide dogs for the blind), therapy dogs, drug sniffing and search and rescue, among others.  But most of the retrievers I see are lovely, docile family pets.

Training a golden retriever requires a little bit of patience, a variety of treats and toys, and a fun attitude.  Retrievers can be trained in a group class or a private consultation.
