Spaniels - they're intelligent, loyal, and eager to please which makes them easy to train!

Start training spaniel puppies as soon as you get them home.  They love learning and soak up information.

Spaniels respond well to positive reinforcement but they are very active so may be distracted easily.  Keep your sessions short and with a lot of quick wins.  You need to start socialisation sessions early too. 

Spaniels were originally bred for retrieving birds on shoots.  This means they are happy to work in all weathers, all day long.   They also tend to be enthusiastic when training, and build strong bonds with their owner. 

Spaniels have good self-control and are flexible, meaning they will work in new environments with people and dogs that they don’t know.
